Almost Complete

This is right after the first glaze firing

This is after the piece is stained with toxic chemicals and starts looking good. Very satisfied with the mask at this point.

and this it it after the final firing with the other two guys

All that is left is some touch up...possibly even grinding off some of the glaze in order to reglaze. The final firing gave me an undesirable effect with the mask, a not so happy accident.  I hope to have the final completed versions of the marionettes up tomorrow evening or saturday.

The Villain Finished

For your viewing pleasure. Let me know what you think :)

Finally done!

This Guy is currently for sale, however he wont be available to take home or to ship until after the show. Let me know if you're interested. I hope to have some better pictures taken later on this week. I hope you all like it, Enjoy :)

Here are some links to previous post about the marionette and my plans for it.

SuperHero and Villain Maquettes

A SuperHero in the making

Almost done

Almost Done

Here are some photos of my Superhero Marionette. I've finished glaze firings and assembly. All that's left is to string it up to the controllers..it feel like I've been working on it forever since I haven't had regular access to any kind of ceramic facilities.. As always, i'd love to hear what you have to say, Enjoy.

Quick update

Finished sculpting the super dooper marionette. Now all I have to do is fire, glaze, and fire again...hopefully.

Superhero and villain maquettes and Marionettes for sale

These are the original ideas for the Marionette i'm currently working on(see previous post) I hope to make a full size Villain Marionette, however it wont be in time for the show...or will it? Still no date haha. These sculpts were done using Klean Klay and are about 7 inches tall. I'm thinking about possibly making action figures out of them, any thoughts?

Also, here's a peek at some Marionettes I got into this year's Spring show at the Academy of Art. I received 2nd place Best of Show for undergrad, woohoo! I hope to have better photos of them eventually. The stands are made from forged steel and finished with linseed oil. They stand about four and a half feet tall. The marionettes vary in size, the tallest being nearly 3 feet when standing erect. They are made of ceramic and and finished with glazes. They are all currently for sale. If anyone is interested, leave me a comment and I'll provide you with my contact info.
